Hi Jordan! Please sum up your role in one sentence

I am responsible for managing, investigating, analysing, and attributing train delays to improve train service and performance. I also ensure accurate reporting of train delay data and how it impacts the commercial aspect of the business.

Tell us about your journey to ARL…

I have worn a few hats so far in my professional journey. My career started in film and television as a TV producer, and I eventually transitioned into the railway industry. I have over six years of experience working for train operating companies such as GTR Thameslink, First Travel Solutions, and GWR, where I assumed customer service delivery, critical safety, resource management, and operational management roles. I have now brought all the various experiences I have amassed over the years to this new chapter of my professional journey.

What do you look forward to most working at ARL?

I look forward to immersing myself in the company culture and bringing my skills and experiences to the table. I also look forward to growing within the business, being an asset to my department, and becoming part of the ARL family as a whole.

So far, what are you most proud of in your career?

I have been privileged to work in various business industries and am proud of the different opportunities I have been awarded. Whether helping some navigate complex subject matters, being part of a think tank, finding solutions to challenging topics or breaking down intricate technical issues, I have always found fulfilment in knowing that I had an impact on my team and was an asset to the business. One of the aspects of my career that I take the most pride in is the ability to assist others in navigating complex topics and finding solutions to difficult challenges. Whether it's simplifying intricate technical issues, guiding someone through tough decisions, or supporting their personal and professional growth, I've had the privilege of making a significant impact. Knowing that my work contributes to the success and well-being of others is incredibly rewarding. This sense of purpose and the positive feedback I've received are what I value most in my career.

Tell us about your most memorable railway trip…

Once upon a time, I took a railway trip to Ambleside in the Lake District. The journey took about 6 hours, with a change of train at Lancaster. I had two and a half hours to explore the town's iconic buildings, such as the Lancaster Castle. I then had a moment of respite and lunch at a South African-themed restaurant called The Mad Hunter, where I tasted crocodile meat for the first time ever.

I continued my travels from Lancaster to Windemere, where I took a local bus to the cottage I was staying in Ambleside. The landscape between Oxenholme and Windemere from a train window seat is breathtaking and scenic. The splendour of Morecambe Bay and the Cumbrian countryside, with its picturesque villages and small towns, is an adventure not celebrated enough..

Where would you go if you could book a ticket to any destination?

South Korea is definitely on my bucket list. I am enamoured with the picturesque landscape, landmarks, and geography of the country, such as the metropolis of Seoul, which dates back over 4000 years. The once-in-a-lifetime experience of an early morning hike to watch the sun rise over the famous Sunrise Peak volcano, coupled with visiting the Arte Museum and enjoying the views of the Cheonjiyeon Waterfalls in Jeju Island at nightfall have always been something I want to experience. The culture, the people, the food, the music and the cinematography of South Korean films have always intrigued me.
