Name: Rachel Geral
Job title: customer experience manager
Location: Camden Road (across Suffragette and Mildmay line)
Hi Rachel! Please sum up your role in one sentence
Overseeing the customer experience across the London north- east London region and equipping my frontline staff with the best techniques to effectively distribute a great customer experience.
Tell us about your journey to ARL…
I started on Arriva Buses. Since that point, I’ve been interested in experiencing the rail industry through a placement. Unfortunately, I didn’t have an opportunity when I joined through the graduate scheme. I’ve worked both in London and the regions. I progressed from grad ops to site operations manager. When the opportunity came up about ARL, I jumped at the opportunity, and after a rigorous interview process, here I am. Everyone has been very lovely and welcoming.
What do you look forward to most working at ARL?
For me, it is about joining a team and building on what we already have. I want to create an environment where there is impact and progression, but more importantly, where we have fun and create a team spirit.
So far, what are you most proud of in your career?
I am most proud of the relationships that I have built along the way. I still have people I can reach out to and depend on.
Having those types of people skills is really important in this industry, and I hope to continue to build on them here at ARL. I am very proud of having that kind of influence.
Tell us about your most memorable railway trip…
My trip to Edinburgh. There is a part where you reach the coastline as you approach Scotland. It was so picturesque, the only other place as beautiful that I’ve been to in the UK is the Lake District. It is hard to believe you are in the UK. The trip was only 4 hours, and I was impressed with how smooth the journey was alongside the views!
If you could book a ticket to any destination, where would you go?
Hawaii. It’s hot. I LOVE the beach, and I would love to embrace the culture and relax.
