A LITTLE CHARITY GOES A LONG WAY: ARL COLLEAGUES VOLUNTEER AT CITY HARVEST WAREHOUSE
Throughout October, Pauline Lawler, service delivery manager & David Craunston, customer host, worked together to collect food donations for City Harvest London at Acton Central, Camden Road and Palestra.
With the help of colleagues throughout the business donating directly at Acton Central. As well as those who filled collection boxes at Camden Road and Palestra.
We are pleased to announce that ARL has provided the equivalent of 2799 meals from the food collected and monetary donations. A huge thank you to everyone who contributed to making this a success; hopefully, we can unite for more charitable endeavours in the future.
On Friday, 3 November, a team of volunteers (Pauline Lawler, David Cranstoun, Derek Crago, Colleen Johnston, Muhammad Bajwa, Hakim Bouhedja & Neal Bailey) gave up their day to volunteer at City Harvest.
They were spending the day working in the warehouse, boxing up rescued food ready for distribution. Food that was received by some of the 375 charities that City Harvest supports. David and Pauline also had the opportunity to help deliver food with the team to see where the food would be distributed. On their way back to the warehouse, they stopped at a local Nandos restaurant to collect more donations.
We gathered the thoughts of those who helped on the day; here’s what they said...
It was a momentous day out at the City Harvest warehouse with a great team. I enjoyed it from start to end. Although in the delivery van, I got a bit tired towards the end, it was worth it. – David Cranstoun, customer host
None of us are used to manual labour, but despite the aches & pains at the end of the day, everyone found this to be a very rewarding experience. – Pauline Lawler, service delivery manager
Thank you for giving me the opportunity yesterday, and we had a very good time. I look forward to more chances to participate in the future. - Muhammad Bajwa, customer host
A good day's work for a very worthwhile cause. – Derek Crago, customer host
Thank you. I loved it, though I have to say I was tired afterwards. Thanks to the team, we all worked well together; here's to the next one! I will be contacting City Harvest and volunteering myself again. - Colleen Johnston, health safety & wellbeing specialist
