ARL WIN 'GREAT PLACE TO WORK' AT THE NATIONAL RAIL AWARDS

Monday night was a big night for ARL, as we had four shortlisted nominations at the National Rail Awards, and we were absolutely thrilled to take home ‘Great Place to Work’.

The award is fantastic recognition of our people-focused operation, celebrating our best practice models of EDI, line manager development, safety culture and wellbeing, while also recognising our engaged and mutually-supportive working environment.

“How Arriva has made this a “Great Place to Work” is by always making us feel safe, secure and happy within the workplace. It is no longer ‘a place where I work’ but becomes ‘a place where I want to work and where I want to be’ and that comes down to the team’s commitment,” said Neil Candasamy, revenue protection inspector and member of the team that delivered a presentation to the judges for the award.

“As a member of PSG, I had the opportunity to talk about the team’s hard work and dedication towards our new project of leaflets for newcomers and career development for our internal staff,” added Neil. “I was overjoyed when Arriva Rail London won the award as it was so unexpected, but having that acknowledgement of a job well done made me feel so proud and validated. Thank you, Oli, Elizabeth and Lilian for trusting me.”

It was also a successful night for the Hatch End station team, who were awarded ‘Highly Commended’ for Station of the Year. The commendation is much-deserved recognition for the team’s work turning Hatch End station into a thriving community hub, where they are renowned for their gardens and floral displays, annual community events and fundraising initiatives.

“Highly commended is a great achievement and I am proud to be working at a great station with great colleagues,” said Neha Patel, customer host. “I have only officially been part of team Hatch End for the past 2 years and I can honestly say that this award was well deserved and means a lot to us. We will be sure to keep doing what we are doing, to keep Hatch End a much loved station for the customers and for the railway.”

Enormous congratulations to Andy Hallisey, Liam Nixon, Neha Patel and the rest of the Hatch End station team!

We were also shortlisted for two further awards, Passenger Operator of the Year and Outstanding Personal Contribution for our Head of Revenue Protection and Security, Elizabeth Umoke. Elizabeth is a powerful and passionate role model within ARL and a true champion of equality, diversity and inclusion in the rail industry, and this recognition is greatly deserved.

An enormous congratulations to everyone involved in our winning, commended and shortlisted entries!
