COMMUNITY DAY AT HATCH END: A GROWING TRADITION

For the past five years, Hatch End Station has celebrated its annual Community Day, an event that brings together station staff, residents, and community leaders for a day of connection and enjoyment.

The event, held on Friday, 26 July, has become a beloved tradition, offering attendees the chance to meet the team that keeps the station running smoothly while enjoying a cup of tea or coffee, indulging in some cake, and admiring the station's beautiful flower displays.

Each year, the Community Day also features a selection of generously donated books, puzzles, and DVDs, allowing the public to browse and take home their favourites. Like those before it, this year's event culminated in a month's worth of meticulous planning, including the design of eye-catching posters displayed at stations and shared widely on social media, both on local group pages and Hatch End station's social media channels.

Liam Nixon, a Hatch End station customer host, highlighted the community day's unique benefits: "The great thing about the community day is it allows the public to speak with the staff without worrying about us being pulled away by another customer. It gives them a chance to know us as well as us getting to know them."

In addition to welcoming residents, the event allows managers from across the business to engage with the public, fostering stronger community relations. The local police team is also invited, offering a platform for meaningful interaction between law enforcement and the community.

Each year, the event grows in size and scope. This year's festivities included a small raffle, with prizes of donated chocolates adding an extra layer of excitement for attendees. Beyond the joy and community spirit, the event also serves a philanthropic purpose: raising funds for the local St. Luke's Hospice, an organization close to the hearts of many in the community.

Hatch End station's Community Day stands as a testament to the power of community engagement, bringing people together in a spirit of camaraderie and support. As this tradition continues to evolve and expand, it remains a cherished occasion for all involved, strengthening the bond between the station staff and the community they serve.
