DISPLAYING POPPIES WITH PRIDE THIS ARMISTICE DAY
This year, Armistice Day will mark 104 years since the end of World War One.
ARL will remember the service and sacrifice of our armed forces by displaying poppies on our trains, as well as on roundels at five stations across the network: Hoxton, Hackney Downs, Shepherd’s Bush, South Tottenham and Hatch End.
Teams from across the network have come together over the years to mark the event. Bill Gillingham from Fleet Engineering paid respect on armistice day at Euston (above). Liam Nixon, Customer Host at Hatch End station, has committed to coordinating ARL’s poppy badge fundraiser every year. All profits from the sales are divided between the Royal British Legion and the BlackPoppyRose.
Service Delivery Manager Neal Bailey organised a service held at Hoxton station last year, taking place at the North London Railway War Memorial. Find out more about the history of the memorial here.
If you would like to donate, you can donate to the Royal British Legion here and to the BlackPoppyRose here.
