DRIVER GETS A HELPING HAND THROUGH ARL’S NEW CHARITY INITIATIVE
This week, ARL were delighted to announce Paul Elliot, driver, is the first charity initiative winner.
Last month, ARL launched its new charity initiative, allowing colleagues to apply for a one-off £1,000 donation to a charity of their choice, with the PSG deciding who receives the contribution at their monthly meeting.
Paul’s charity, the Turkish Women Association Philanthropic Association (TWPA), based in Haringey (just a 10-minute walk from Haringey Green Lane station), was formed in May 1970, where Turkish Cypriot women came together to create a forum for Turkish women. In 1975, the TWPA became a registered charity, its main aim being to provide practical and financial help as well as advice and guidance for Turkish, Turkish Cypriot and Kurdish women and their families.
Speaking on being our first winner, Paul said: “The Autism Projects recently established by the TWPA aim to help children and young adults with autism learn to develop the skills they need to have a more productive and fulfilling future. The project aims to utilise music therapy with STEM education to help the students develop these skills in a more intuitive environment. There is also a secondary project aimed at supporting the parents and carers of autistic children, which is often overlooked. The TWPA offer a support group with a psychologist acupuncturist and hopes to add other therapies.
“The donation from ARL will go towards supplying instruments, educational supplies and paying the teachers and therapists to help support these projects.”
