FEELING SECURE AT CHINGFORD
Introducing a shiny new fleet and improving infrastructure certainly has its positives but can also attract unwanted negatives. It's been the case at Chingford Sidings, where various works have enhanced the facility. However, it's resulted in an increase in unauthorised access and graffiti attacks at Chingford Sidings.
Over the last year, our engineering team have been working with TfL to provide a 24/7 security guard cover on site. TfL offered to take this on as part of their wider security contract centred at New Cross Gate, with two people on nights and one on days.
The first phase was to install a security hut to accommodate the new security team, funded by TfL, in place of our existing security arrangements. ARL and TfL jointly agreed on the scope, and with support from the ARL infrastructure projects team, we delivered this project back in April 2022.
The second phase was to recruit and fill the positions of six security guards. The new security supplier, Mitie, successfully carried this out. ARL delivered the induction and PTS training required when working within ARL Sidings.
We're pleased to confirm that the new security team joined ARL on Sunday 25 June, and they are very much looking forward to working with the wider Chingford teams.
Thank you to those that have been involved and supported the delivery of this project. It is a very positive step in the continued depot improvements for Chingford, so please join us in welcoming and supporting the new team.
