MY STORY - TANYA CROW

As she approaches her 13th year with the business, for Tanya Crow, customer experience improvement manager, it's been a journey of embracing development opportunities, learning from peers and jumping at new opportunities when they present themself after experiencing roles in different areas of the organisation.

And just like Tanya did when an opportunity presented itself, so did Exchange Extra, as we had the pleasure of speaking to her about her story of how she's been able to learn, grow and progress at ARL.

My journey with London Overground has been nothing short of exhilarating, starting in November 2011, from the early days with LOROL to the exciting takeover by Arriva Rail London. At every turn, I've eagerly seized every opportunity that came my way, propelling myself forward and embracing new challenges with enthusiasm. These opportunities have allowed me to gain experience, upskill my knowledge gaps, learn new areas of the company, and create new and rebuild old relationships to further myself and excel in my career.

Not only have secondments provided invaluable experiences for bridging my knowledge gaps, but I've also taken advantage of the diverse array of courses offered by the Arriva Group to fuel my personal development. I have done several secondments throughout my career, including my current secondment as a customer experience improvement manager. As I near the completion of the LEAP Leadership course and prepare to embark on a Project Fundamentals Qualification, the possibilities for my future seem boundless.

Reflecting on my journey, I've traversed various roles and projects: customer host, traincare operative level two, and KPI auditor, to name a few. Each contributed to my growth and success. From my time in the traincare department during the iconic 2012 Olympics to spearheading Station Improvement Plans during the West Anglia takeover and now collaborating with the KPI team, every moment has been a learning experience.

Looking back, I am proud of the skills I've acquired, the relationships I've built with colleagues internally and externally, and the sheer enjoyment I've found in every challenge. As I evolve and progress, who knows where my journey will take me next?

Throughout my journey, I received support from my managers. I had a lot of support wherever needed, and I undertook courses to help upskill my knowledge gaps.

As you navigate your path to progress, I encourage you to embrace the journey and seize the opportunities. Take advantage of the resources available on Arriva Learning, leverage your network, and maintain a growth mindset as you strive towards your goals.

Together, let us embark on this journey of growth and development, empowered by the knowledge that success is not merely a destination, but a continuous pursuit fuelled by curiosity, resilience, and a commitment to excellence.

ARL is committed to the internal progression, growth, and development of colleagues and over the past year, more than one third of vacancies were filled internally.
