The Finalists

Health & Wellbeing Award

Milena Swiebola

“In the past two years Milena has pulled together a comprehensive health and wellbeing programme which has been particularly important as we have navigated through the pandemic. An online wellbeing hub has been delivered which is a central repository for all information relating to health and wellbeing. In support of this, Milena has developed a team of Mental Health Supporters who are there as a first point of contact for those that need to talk. Milena has worked with the Samaritans to support our suicide prevention programme, and has run a number of health and wellbeing initiatives (such as online yoga) to support everyone across the business either virtually or directly, and the feedback for all areas has been fantastic. We have seen our health and wellbeing offering jump from a token gesture to a very rich and diverse programme, and this is down to the work that Milena has put in.“ - Darren Selman

Graduate or Newcomer Award

Peter Jackson

“Peter Jackson was appointed the project manager for our complicated head office move project this year. His energy, enthusiasm, and commitment to delivering a great outcome for our staff has resulted in a very well managed plan where a new head office location has been leased, designed, developed with staff moving in during October. The project was complex due to the exit conditions of our existing HQ, the significant IT change required to the networking infrastructure, supplier delivery issues and a large number of stakeholders to navigate. Peter took this complexity on-board and translated it into a coherent and well communicated plan. His ‘hands on – get stuck in approach’ and positivity has really added to the successful outcome – Well done Peter!“ - Steve Best

Award for Charity

Hatch End Station

“This is more of a station team charity award, the team at Hatch End station is made up of 3 members of staff.

Andy, Liam, and Neha. The team has worked closely for a few years raising funds for a number of charities such as the British Heart Foundation, St Lucks Hospice, and the Railway Benefit funds. The team has a book swap set up at the station, but the team also uses this to raise money for the local charities. Most recently the team set a target of £400 pounds to help raise funds for the railway benefit fund. The team took part in a sponsored walk from London Euston to Watford Junction calling at each station. At the time of entering this, the team had passed the £400 mark and was closer to £1,000.

The team work closely with the local community by holding community days at the station doing tea/coffee and cake and also raise money for charities at the same time. The team runs a poppy appeal campaign for the London Overground staff, selling poppy-themed badges to staff across the network, and over the 4 years the team have been doing this and we have raised over £5,000 for the charity.“ - Liam Nixon
