1 It’s many systems rolled into one

IVU is an IT system with the power to transform how we run parts of our business. Where we used to have separate systems for key tasks, IVU brings these together, offering real-time roster and fleet information in one connected hub. It upgrades a number of manual processes, reducing errors and saving time.

2 It streamlines day-to-day work for colleagues

IVU provides better information on everything from rostering, to fleet maintenance records and diagrams. That means it will be a great help for driver managers, train planners, driver resource managers, control colleagues, fleet control managers and others in planning and running our services.

3 Our service to the public will improve

It also enables us to log, track and manage disruption more accurately.

4 Rostering becomes more efficient

The way information is collected and shared with IVU, means the various employment terms across the business as well as things like driver competencies and hours worked can be factored in when rostering is arranged. Driver managers can easily access the information without relying on paperwork and phone calls.

5 Even booking leave becomes easier

IVU will also be replacing some HR and payroll systems it means processes for control and other frontline teams booking leave are becoming simpler, while the risk of payroll errors is reduced.

6 It’s the result of some terrific teamwork

The rollout of IVU was ARL’s biggest ever technology change programme and that called for some cross-business collaboration. Control, train planning, rostering, traincare, fleet and payroll colleagues had input. As well as enabling key users to have a say, it helped to highlight gaps in processes and ensure these were addressed with IVU.
