INVESTING IN OUR PEOPLE: ENHANCING FACILITIES ACROSS THE LONDON OVERGROUND NETWORK

At Arriva Rail London, we understand the wellbeing of our people is crucial to our collective success. We are proud to announce further projects aimed at improving facilities across the London Overground network, starting with eight key stations in our first phase:

  • Acton Central
  • Clapham Junction
  • Gospel Oak
  • Hampstead Heath
  • Highbury & Islington
  • Norwood Junction
  • West Croydon
  • Willesden Junction

These enhancements are not just about upgrading physical spaces but about showing our commitment to the people who keep the network running smoothly. By providing better working environments, we hope to support our colleagues in delivering the best service possible to our passengers.

What’s changing?
Each station will undergo a tailored upgrade to address specific needs, based on direct feedback from colleagues.

Here’s a glimpse of some of the improvements being made:

Acton Central: The upgrades will transform the staff messroom, providing a more comfortable and efficient environment. The kitchen area will be completely refurbished, with new base units, a sink, and wall units replacing the outdated setup. Modern altro flooring will replace carpet tiles, and a new matwell will be installed for safety.

Additional improvements include:

  • Repainting walls and window frames
  • Installing a suspended ceiling with LED lights
  • Repositioning wall heaters for better warmth
  • Double wall sockets with USB outlets and updated blinds, fire signage, and furniture..

These changes will create a more functional and welcoming space for colleagues to enjoy their breaks.

Norwood Junction: The dispatcher's office will undergo significant upgrades, including new altro flooring, repairs to the existing floor, and a matwell installation at the main entrance. Lighting will also be improved with six new LED fittings, including an emergency light. Like Acton Central, additional double plug sockets with USB ports will be installed, and new wall heaters will be added to enhance comfort.

The toilet facilities will also be refurbished, with complete redecoration and repairs to close gaps around door frames to prevent pest access. New altro flooring and LED lighting controlled by PIR sensors will be installed. The existing toilet and sink will be replaced, and a new extraction fan will be installed to create a more hygienic and functional space.

Willesden Junction: The RSO messroom will be fully renovated to create a more comfortable environment. The space will be completely redecorated, with walls, skirting, and window frames painted using low-odour, quick-drying paint. The existing carpet tiles will be replaced with durable Altro flooring, and a new matwell will be installed at the entrance to enhance safety.

    Upgrades also include:
  • Installing a suspended ceiling with LED lights
  • Replacing the electric wall heater
  • Adding USB outlets to the desk area.

Old furniture will be replaced with new desks and chairs, enhancing the room's functionality and comfort for colleagues.
